a compassionate approach to justice and healing
For years, Michigan has failed survivors of child sexual abuse. But new bills introduced in the state Legislature are poised to extend the civil statute of limitations and expand access to justice. We specialize in an empowering, empathetic approach to law, and we would be honored to support you in your journey.
No survivor should be left behind
Historically, Michigan has been saddled with one of the narrowest statutes of limitations in the country. Under current law, once a survivor of childhood sexual abuse reaches 29 years old, they can no longer seek civil legal remedies. For many survivors, this closes the door to justice, as often they do not even begin to process and understand their abuse until far later during adulthood.
In the past few years, in the wake of public awareness of the prevalence of CSA resulting from reports of widespread abuse by serial abusers such as Larry Nassar at Michigan State and Robert Anderson at the University of Michigan, some members of the Michigan Legislature have been working to extend that statute of limitations to allow adult survivors to seek legal remedies. We are monitoring the developments in the Legislature closely and are fighting to have bills passed in 2023.

Testimonial from Lauren Allswede, LMSW
Founder & Director of Clinical Services, North Star Wellness Center
Liz is an exceptional attorney. Her knowledge and integrity are enhanced by a charismatic personality. She built rapport quickly with the clients I referred to her - she was timely in communication and thorough in her investigations, and she made people feel comfortable talking to her.
Liz's understanding of the bigger context - the ‘spirit’ of the law - reassured me that my clients would feel respected and understood, even if the outcome was not in their favor. Her familiarity with the intricate details - the ‘letter’ of the law - made me feel confident in the process and outcome of her work. The clients I work with have experienced some form of trauma, and I take very seriously who I recommend. I don't have to think twice when it comes to recommending Liz. She is a wonderful attorney and a tremendous asset to our community.
