To create more just and equitable educational institutions and workplaces across Michigan and nationally.
Core Values
Integrity
We value doing the right thing, even when it’s not easy, convenient, or profitable. We aim to be ethical and trustworthy in every interaction with our clients, opposing counsel, and others.
Authenticity
We value knowing ourselves and being willing to walk away from clients and opportunities that don’t fit with our values. Our clients can always expect us to be honest and straightforward with them, even if it means having difficult conversations.
Empathy
We value treating others with respect and compassion. We know that many times when people seek the help of a lawyer, they are at challenging points in their lives. We strive to meet people where they are and not judge anyone negatively because of their circumstances.
Creativity & Innovation
We value continual learning and growth. We welcome new ideas and keep our minds open to approaches that might be outside of the box in order to best serve our clients.
Balance
We value the mental, physical, and emotional health of our clients and ourselves. We know we serve our clients best when we are well rested and able to meet our personal needs outside of the workplace. We provide flexible work arrangements and make sure we are giving ourselves what we need to ensure that we have the capacity and stamina to do this hard, emotional, important work for the long haul.
Equality & Antiracism
We value working towards a world in which individuals are not limited by any physical characteristics, including race. We recognize that we live in a society that privileges white people and whiteness and that racist ideas are ingrained in our culture, social and legal systems, institutions, and media. We strive to promote equality and fight racist ideas and policies through advocacy, identifying and addressing our own internal biases, and being antiracist in all aspects of our work.
